A Must: Top Reasons Why Businesses Fail
• Find Out If It Is God’s Will
2 Timothy 1:1
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,
Basically, the will of God is God’s intention and purpose for your life.
God is the manufacturer of every living soul. And for everything He created, there is a purpose.
Apostle Paul said, he was an apostle by the will of the Lord. Don’t forget, that he was formerly a Judaist. He was a nonentity when he was a Judaist until he met Christ.
Listen, the truth is this; if you venture into any business that is not the will of God for your life. The end result will be absolute frustration.
It is the manufacturer of a product that has the prerogative to talk about the purpose for which a product is manufactured.
More so, foolishness is when you assume that you can be a jack of all trade and be the master of all.
Every human being has a destiny to fulfil. You’re not created to do every business that you know.
Ask For Divine Direction
My friend, ask your creator (God) if the business you want to start is His will for your life.
I’m telling you this because I have seen some people who started business and closed it down afterwards.
When they discovered it was not God’s purpose for their life. You can only make it in a business that is designed for you. No matter the opposition and vicissitudes of life.
However, you can only struggle endlessly and record losses in a business that is not designed for you.
Isaiah 58:11 says;
“And the LORD shall guide thee continually… “
So, rest assured that God will lead you as you pray for God’s direction. He may lead you through vision, dream, an angel, prophecy or through your pastor.
As a Christian, don’t start a business until you have spoken to God about it. And God has spoken to you about it.
• Acquire Knowledge About The Business
Please read this passage carefully;
And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:
see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;
And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;
what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.
Although, the Israelites were going to inherit the promised land — Canaan.
But Moses had to send some people to acquire knowledge about the land they were to inherit.
Imperatively, they were to know the kind of people living there, how good or bad the land was and the kind of houses they lived in.
Also, they were to know the kind of fruit they had on their land. Isn’t this amazing?
Even Moses knew he needed to know the land they were to inherit. That is a form of Education.
So, what gives you the impression that you don’t need to know much about your business?
Above all, it is knowledge that stabilises business. Business without knowledge will produce frustration and waste of time.
For instance, if you want to start online marketing. There are books you need to read on marketing. Also, there are blog posts you need to read.
Additionally, if you want to be selling clothes, you need to know what it takes to make headway in that business.
Means Of Acquiring Knowledge
Importantly, do not go into any business without acquiring knowledge that will sustain your business.
Read books that expatiate extensively on your preferred business. If you could lay hands on tapes, please buy them and listen.
Be like Moses who knew about his venture. Know about that business in order to be successful.
• Get Mentors On That Field
A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels.
Mentors are monitors. Mentors are the ones that have the practical knowledge of what you want to venture into.
Summarily, after you have studied, read and listened to tapes on your preferred business.
Make sure you seek a quality professional relationship with those who are already in that business.
Again, for example, if you want to start a poultry farming. Get in touch with those who have attained lofty heights in poultry farming. You may not need to know many people.
Real Questions Should Be AnsweredIndeed, you may only need to know two or three poultry farmers. Ask them few questions and increase your knowledge.
No knowledge is useless. Don’t waste your time by trying guesswork. It is a costly thing for one to learn through one’s experience.
Do yourself a favour by learning from their experience.
My point is; don’t destroy that business because of the lack of knowledge.
Again, there is no business you start with the exclusion of knowledge that will ever thrive.
If it thrives, its thrivingness will be short-lived. To build a long-lasting business, get mentors that will monitor you.
• Look For A Good Location
He shall be like a tree planted BY THE RIVERS OF WATER, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
Here in the Bible, because the tree was planted by the rivers of water. It would surely bring forth its fruit in its season.
In other words, it is only a crop/seed that is planted at the right place that will yield its fruit in season.
A seed can be potent but if the land in which it is planted is bad. It will not grow well let alone, bearing fruit.
Business wise, you can have good products in a well furnished shop and still not sell your products well. Why? You may not be rightly located.
Candidly, One of the things you must do before starting your business is to get a good place/shop/office for your business.
Just a piece of advice, even before getting a location for your business, pray to God to lead you to the best place.
That is just my own way of life. I don’t think I have never ventured into any business. Without asking for divine direction.

Barren Vs Fertile Land
See, you don’t have time to waste on a barren land. A barren land is the land that cannot produce. If you get a barren land for your business. It may not produce any monetary reward.
As a matter of fact, you may run into debt if you run your business on a barren land.
Inexpediently, as we have the barren land, we also have fertile land. A fertile land is a good location for your business.
Believe me, if you can get a good location for your business. I assure you, your business will thrive beyond human imagination.
Honestly, you will be amazed with how rapid your business will grow.
Location matters a lot. Don’t hide in a corner. Be located in a place where those who need your services are.
In addition to that; let there be proximity within you and your customers. Do not situate your business far away from people.
• Start With What You Have
2 Kings 4:2
And Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? TELL ME, WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR HOUSE?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.” (NIV).
Elisha asked the widow of what she had in her house. And she said, she had only a little jar of olive oil.
Certainly, that woman didn’t know that God could bless that little thing she claimed she had. But God did beyond her expectation.
May be, you’ve been also thinking like this woman. To you, you may feel the money you have cannot start the kind of business you want to run.
Obviously, you might have fantasized about your kind of business. For that kind of dream business, you need huge sum of money.
Beloved, do you know why some people have not started any business yet? No fund! No fund! No fund! That’s their slogan
Little did they know that God is expecting them to prove themselves faithful in a small business. Before he can give them more money to run big entity.
Listen, God is the wisest investor. He doesn’t invest blindly.
Once He has found you faithful in little things, He entrusts you with great things. Start with the little you have.
Starting A Business With Loan Or Debt-free.
Personally, I prefer venturing into a new entity with the little I have than to borrow money or take a loan to start a business.
