Five Good Reasons For Attending Church

Attend Church Because Of These Five Right Reasons

Attend church for what reason?

Before God, motives are weighed. It is not enough to do something because others are doing it.

Because, when it comes to spiritual things, it is more profitable to do things with right motives.

I have already written on SIX WRONG REASONS FOR ATTENDING CHURCH. Please read it, if you have not read it. Here, we shall see the scriptural reasons for attending church. This is beyond tradition.

That is why many people have gone to church for many years and never experienced any spiritual growth.

Because they attended church with the wrong reasons. Motive matters a lot. Don’t just go to church because your friends are also going.

Five Foolish Things People Do

This write-up will help you to know what God expects from you as you fellowship together with the saints.

Just pore over this article as every written word is inspired by the Spirit of the Lord to bless you.

Scriptural Reasons For Attending Church

• Attend Church In Order To Be Exhorted

Hebrews 10:25
[25]Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but EXHORTING ONE ANOTHER: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Honestly to be exhorted means to urge, implore and to advise earnestly. There is nothing wrong with you if you go to church with an expectation to be motivated by God’s Word.

One of the reasons why some people commit suicide is that they lack the Word of encouragement.

The encouragement that is needed by them to move on in life, they didn’t access it.

However, the good news is that the church of Christ gives you an avenue and platform to be motivated and urged.

There are several ministrations that usually take place in the church. That will bless you and spur you into action.

For example, song ministrations, impartation, teaching of the Word, drama, prayers and so on. There is no way you cannot be blessed by any of these aforementioned ministrations.

Summarily, it is necessary for you to go to church in order to be exhorted. And it is one of the good reasons for attending church.

• Attend A Church To Prepare For The Lord’s Coming

Hebrews 10:25
[25]Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, AS YE SEE THE DAY APPROACHING.

It is incumbent upon me to remind you of rapture — the catching away of the saints into heaven.

And there is no better place where you can hear the teachings that will make you prepare for the rapture, than the church.

They won’t tell you how to prepare for the Lord’s coming in clubhouse. The proper place to receive the sound teachings that will spur you into preparation is the church.

Therefore, one of the right reasons for attending church; is to get oneself prepared for the Lord’s coming.

In church, you will be taught how to live in order to be rapturous. You will be taught what is required of you to make heaven.

And some other basic truths you need to know.

Sincerely, something is wrong with you and your church if your only reason for attending church is because of wealth acquisition.

Truthfully, you don’t go to church because you want to be wealthy.

The core duty of the church is to prepare the saints for the Lord’s coming.

Any church you attend that is not in anyway preparing you for rapture is a false church. Leave that kind of church.

Go to church in order to get prepared for the Lord’s coming.

Seven Wrong Temptations Young People Must Overcome

• Attend A Church In Order To Hear God’s Word

Ecclesiastes 5:1
[1]Keep thy foot when thou goest to the HOUSE OF GOD, and BE MORE READY TO HEAR, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.

God said here that; whenever we find ourselves in the house of God we should be more receptive.

We should be ready to listen than to offer sacrifice of fools.

Although, the house of God is the body of a believer in the New Testament.

Linguistically, the church I am referring to here is the place where we worship every Sunday.

Theologically, the church means the called out. It refers to those who are called out of the kingdom of darkness.

But for the sake of this teaching. Linguistically, Let’s stick to church as being a place of worship.

You should go to church because you want to learn from the Word of the Lord. The Word of God is replete with a lot of teachings that will bless your life.

People’s Attitude

If we do not go to church, how do we learn those things. For example, many Christians will never open their bible. Unless they are asked to do so in church.

Many of them will not read the Bible when they are at home. But they don’t have any other option than to open it when they get to church.

So, the church provides an opportunity for us to learn together as the Word is preached. We need to attend church for us to hear the Word of the Lord.

Sadly, many believers do not like to hear God’s Word. Whenever it’s time for the sermon, they begin to dose off. They will struggle to listen throughout the message.

To them, the time allotted for sermon is usually too much. Why? They only want to pray in church. They don’t want to learn from God.

Again, they are tagged prayer warriors not Bible warriors.

The problem

These people want God to hear them but they do not want to hear God. The best way to hear Him is through His Word. Listen to Him.

Instructively, it is better to be ready to listen in church than to offer the sacrifice of fools.

• To Fast And Pray

Acts 13:1-3
[1]Now there were IN THE CHURCH that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

[2]AS THEY MINISTERED TO THE LORD, AND FASTED, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

[3]And when they HAD FASTED AND PRAYED, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

In the Church at Antioch, believers gathered together to fast and pray. It is not unscriptural for you as a believer to go to church because of fasting and prayer.

Biblically, you can fast and pray in church if you need to do that. One of the reasons why we need to meet in the house of God is to move the Hand of God through intensive prayer.

Church Of Today

Today, there are some believers who go to church in other to display their talents. There are some who go there for fashion parade; to display their beauty.

Listen to me, the house of God is the house of prayer. It is not the house of fashion. The house of God is not the platform to showcase talents.

If you want to showcase your talent. Go for talent shows or talent contest. The church is not a platform for that. It has never been and it will never be.

Although, God gives talents to people. But talent is to be groomed with God’s Word and be anointed through prayers.

One of the good reasons for attending church is to find a comfortable and quiet place to pray.

It is scriptural to go to church in order to pray together with the saints.

Go to church and pray. Don’t go there and be looking at those who are praying. If you have the opportunity to fast. Please do. If you can’t, just pray fervently.

Ten Reasons Why You Need To Go To Church

• To Praise The Lord

Ephesians 5:19-20
[19]Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
[20]Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When we meet together in the house of God. We are to speak to ourselves in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. We are expected to give thanks always.

Many of us may not have the grace of singing for too long all alone. But when we get to church.

We have the choristers. They are the ones who will lead us in praises.

At times, we would get to church and the atmosphere will be electrified with the songs of worship. This is the Lord’s doing.

Sincerely, we need to cultivate the habit of going to church to give God quality praise.

Sometimes, we need to make up our mind to worship Him without even requesting anything from Him.

We are admonished to give thanks always. And the church of God offers this. Then, will you not choose to go to church to praise God?

Praise Him

Beloved, you need to attend church because of thanksgiving. Some people have formed the habit of intentionally skipping the time of praise and worship.

3 Reasons You Need To Go To Church

Because, they feel it is a total waste of time. My friend, you need to change. Before you speak to Him concerning your needs.

Just thank Him for the gift of life. May the Lord help us to be obedient to His Word.

May the Lord bless you abundantly!

Make your contribution, if you have been blessed by this write-up.
