Speech is one of the art you must develop. Some youths are so rude and insolent with the manner they utter words to people.

2 Timothy 1:6
Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou STIR UP THE GIFT OF GOD, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
There are gifts inherent in you that are crying out for expression. Also, there are gifts deposited in you by your creator which you must develop or stir up.
Gifts are freely given from above but if you don’t stir them up, they will never emerge.
The Apostle Paul wrote a letter to his son in ministry, Timothy. He said he should remember to stir up his gift.
He neither said Timothy should pray to God to help him stir up his gift nor pray to God to give him a gift. That means Timothy had that gift.
Stir it up
My friend, you also have gift but if you do not stir it up, it will remain dormant like a bank account. It would interest you to know that if you work on yourself, and develop your gift. You will be of massive benefit to yourself and to your nation.
What is your gift? Is it Writing, Networking (person to person), Networking (in the virtual world), Decision Making, Math, Research, Accounting, Music, Art, Drawing, Photography, Woodworking etc.
Your gift can announce you to your world. It can bring you money. It can even take you to places you never envisaged.
Just stir it up by learning more about your gift and exploring it daily. Make sure you practise your gift. Exercise yourself in it daily.
3. Christian youths must develop their reading skills
1 Timothy 4:13
Till I come, GIVE ATTENDANCE TO READING, to exhortation, to doctrine.
It is known by people that readers are leaders. A reader today, a leader tomorrow. He who has ability to read but fails to read is not better than someone who cannot read at all(illiterate).
As a young person, reading skill is a skill you must possess.
By the time you get married and have more commitments, you may not have that huge time to read as before. That is why you have to cultivate the habit of reading as a young person.
Basically, there are a lot of things you need to know. He who does not read cannot benefit from the knowledge the whole world has to offer.
Books will expose you to a lot of things you are ignorant of. If you not an avid reader, you are not helping yourself at all.
By reading, you will avoid the mistakes others have gone through. The Bible says there is nothing new under heaven(Ecc 1:9).
Why you should read
For instance, many people who have experienced failed marriages and they have written books on how they destroyed their marriages.
You can learn from their pitfalls as it is a bad thing to learn from one’s experience. As they say, experience is the best teacher.
Also, there are some people who have strong and working marriages. And some of them wrote books on how to make your marriage work. You can learn also learn from them by Reading their books.

4. Christian youths must develop their listening skills
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man BE SWIFT TO HEAR, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
To be swift to hear is to be eager, willing and ready to hear. It means to be humble enough to listen to people.
Many youths only want to speak, they don’t like listening. Some youths do not like sitting in Church to hear God’s Word. They are not as calm to listen for too long.
The truth is, every youth must develop the art of listening. Although, it requires patience. Yet, we need it. You need to learn how to listen to people when they talk for you not to misquote them.
Reason for quarrels
Sometimes, quarrel ensue when we do not properly listen to people when they speak to us. We misinterpret them because we only listen to respond.
We hardly listen to understand. As a young person, be ready to listen to learn and understand. Do not be a person, who listens in order to respond.
As a matter of fact, you may not respond to everything they tell you. Just listen. Listening skill is another skill you must develop.
