Christian Dressing is an act of revealing the glory of God in a believer’s life through the way he or she appears outwardly.

Unlike unbelievers who can dress flamboyantly, immorally and irresponsibly because they have chosen to live the way they want.

Believers are to dress with the consciousness of who they are in Christ and how Christ expects them to look.

Obviously, there are certain things to consider before a Christian dresses. These factors are highlighted and explained below.

Five Things To Consider Before Dressing;

• Consider Others

1 Corinthians 8:13
[13]NIV:Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to FALL INTO SIN, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not CAUSE THEM TO FALL.

In other words, Apostle Paul says, whatever will cause other men to stumble. Don’t do it.

Here, he talks about meat. But, it is not only meat, that can make others to fall into sin. Dressing can also make one to fall.

Truly, there is a way a woman can dress that can lure a strong anointed man of God into sin.

However, before you get dressed, consider others. Ask yourself; “Will this clothes make others fall?” If yes, don’t wear.

How You Should Dress

Frankly, any clothes you will put on that will drive you undue attention which can make a man to think of sex easily.

Please, avoid it. Shun the appearance of evil. Christian dressing should be model for others.

For instance, as a lady. If you live together in a house that is filled with men. You need to be careful of how you dress.

Many of the rape cases we have today have been traceable to indecent dressing. Get me right.

I am not supporting rape in any way. But, my point is, we can reduce its prevalence through decent dressing.

1 Timothy 2:9
[9]In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in MODEST APPAREL, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

Adorn yourself in modest apparel. Whatever the clothes you put on. Always consider modesty.

Let everything be moderate. Flamboyance dressing is not really advisable. Dress moderately.

Basically, anything excessive creates foolishness and senselessness. If you are going to wear any clothes.

Remember the principle of simplicity. Don’t spend all your money on clothes and excessive necklace.

Above all, don’t use too much powder, necklace, or perfume. Let everything be moderate and simple.

• Society on Christian Dressing

Acts 16:1-3
[1]Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:

[2]Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.

[3]Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.

Timothy was intentionally circumcised by Paul. And it was not because he wasn’t accepted by God without circumcision.

But, he was circumcised because of the Jews. Because they knew Timothy’s father was a Greek.

With this, the Jews might not accept his message. So, Paul had to circumcise him.

My point is this, there is a way you dress in the United States and you will be culturally accepted over there.

More so, if you dress that way in Nigeria and you preach the gospel. You will not be accepted.

Therefore, before you dress, consider the society where you live in. You may be seen as irresponsible if you don’t dress well.

For Christian Dressing

• Profession

Exodus 28:1-3
[1]And take thou unto thee Aaron thy brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office, even Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons.

Thou shalt make holy garments for Aaron thy brother for glory and for beauty.

But thou shalt speak unto all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments to consecrate him, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office.

Some priests were mentioned in this passage. And God said they were to wear holy garments before they ministered before him.

Basically, your profession determines how you dress. There are some jobs that require suit and tie.

Dear friend, if you have been employed. Don’t be too rigid with your casual way of dressing. Dress in a formal way.

That is, before you dress, wear the clothes that are in accordance with your profession.

For example, If you have been employed as a teacher. Don’t dress like a road construction engineer.

Profession should be considered before you dress. Therefore, take profession into cognizance before you dress.

Certainly, Christians must be able to abide by the rules that govern their profession as regards good dressing.

Important One For Christian Dressing

• Temple Of God

1 Corinthians 6:19-20
[19]What? know ye not that your body is the TEMPLE of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

[20]For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

God’s Word calls believers the temple of Holy Ghost.

Expressly, you should think of good clothes that befit God’s temple before dressing.

Any dressing that defiles or portray you as a harlot should be avoided. As we need to glorify God with our body.

Glorify the Lord With Your Christian Dressing

My friend, before you put those clothes on, see yourself as a good temple which God lives in. And dress well.

Proverbs 7:10
[10]And, behold, there met him a woman with the ATTIRE OF AN HARLOT, and subtil of heart.

Since God has not called our body, the temple of an harlot. Let us not portray ourselves as harlot.

We should dress beautifully and elegantly and shun immoral dressing.

• Indeed, the temple of God deserves good covering and care. Let’s dress well and take good care of our bodies.

• Do not only consider yourself and want you want, alone before dressing. Importantly, consider others before you dress.

• Candidly, it is not until when you spend all the money you have on clothes that you will be able to look good.

• Every believer must be able to abide by the godly dressing their profession requires.

• Be proud of your society as you are to dress moderately to portray your cultural values.
