Calling: How To Know What God Has Called You To Do On Earth

Calling is a strong desire or feeling of duty to do a particular kind of work, especially religious work. Your calling is what you are created on earth to do.

Nobody is a biological accident, no one is a biological misfit. Everyone is created for a specific purpose. God did not create anybody for fun but for a purpose.

And a life that does not fulfil the purpose of God will bring absolute frustration and endless regret.

Important Bible Verse About Your Calling

Now, How Do You Know God’s Calling Upon Your Life?

• Through What You Love Doing

Moses loved justice. He was totally against any act of injustice done against his fellow Israelites.

Exodus 2:11-12
[11]And it came to pass in those days, when Moses was grown, that he went out unto his brethren, and looked on their burdens: and he spied an Egyptian smiting an Hebrew, one of his brethren.

[12]And he looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no man, he slew the Egyptian, and hid him in the sand.

Although, he hadn’t had a personal encounter with the Lord at that time. But he was loved justice and hated injustice.

However, Moses was the one God instructed to lead the Israelites out of bondage. The Egyptians had enslaved them for many years at that time.

Without mincing words, you could see how Moses displayed his love for the Israelites by interceding for them.

On several occasions when God wanted to blot them out, he would pray to God to preserve them. That was what he loved.

Beloved, you may love singing, writing, playing Football, teaching, counselling etc. Any of these might be your calling if you find out from God.

It Must Be Something Good

Ephesians 2:10
[10]For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto GOOD WORKS, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

As stated in that verse, we’ve been created in Christ Jesus unto good works. Beware of anything you love doing that is a bad work.

For instance, some people love gossiping, backbiting, cheating, nagging, oppressing people, stealing etc.

Obviously, all these are bad works. Get a good work that you love doing. And enquire from the Lord if that is what you’re meant to do throughout your life.

Your Calling

• Through Supernatural Means

God may decide to communicate His intention to you concerning your calling. It may be through voices, dreams or visions.

Read this;

Acts 26:19-20
[19]Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the HEAVENLY VISION:

[20]But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judaea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

Paul knew his calling through a heavenly vision. And he said he was never disobedient to the heavenly vision.

Specifically, God may inform you that your calling is the preaching and teaching of the Word of God. Maybe God has shown you that before. Please, do not hesitate to obey His instruction.

See, our own calling may be in the health sector. God does not only call people into ministry. He also calls people into a specific profession.

More so, that is why it is always advisable for every believer to locate His calling before delving into any profession.

If God has shown you what He has called you to do on earth. Please, obey. Because you can only be remarkable where He has called you to stay.

Jeremiah 1:4,5

[4]Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

[5]Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Jeremiah knew his calling maybe through a voice. Because some of the times he heard God, he heard him through voices.

Here, He said the Word of the Lord came to him. What was he meant to be on earth? He was meant to be a Prophet.

Indeed, Jeremiah rose to become one of the Prophets whose words never fell to the ground. He fulfilled His calling while on earth.

Andrew Wommack: How to: Hear God’s Voice

Matthew 1:20-21
[20]But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

[21]And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Also, you can know what you are called to do on earth through dreams. God told Joseph, the father of Jesus whom God created his son to be.

More so, He told him he was going to deliver His people from their sins.

Nevertheless, God may not speak to your parents about your calling. He may decide to let you know through dream personally.

Another way of knowing your calling

• Passion

Basically, whatever you are passionate about may be a pointer to your calling. Some people are passionate about children. While some are passionate about enlightening people on sex, marriage.

Some are passionate about drawing, reading books, writing notes or making people laugh. You may be passionate about any of these.

I’m also passionate about teaching people God’s Word. I love to get God’s Word across to people whichever way they would like to get it.

Additionally, It may be through reading or hearing. And that’s my reason for creating this blog.

Specifically, I also love teaching on sex and I have written some articles on it. And one of them is; Sex Addiction And How To Be Totally Free From It.

Let me ask you; what are you passionate about?

David was passionate about upholding the name of the God of Isreal. That was why he specifically faced Goliath.

Again, he couldn’t endure how the Philistine was despising the God of Isreal. Then, he decided to fight him and he was able to defeat him.

How To Stay Strong In Difficult Times

• Truly, God has a purpose for you.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
[1]To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

• We don’t just do any work we like. Biblically, we are supposed to locate our calling and be obedient.

• Allow God to communicate His mind to you through supernatural means. And don’t disobey Him.
